Prokocim Park: a Family Quest in Kraków

City Krakow: free walking route “Prokocim Park: a Family Quest in Kraków” along the sights. 8 points. Approximately 1 h 30 min. Quests and legends - straight

Prokocim doesn’t shout about itself — it speaks in a whisper. An old coat of arms on a wall, a palace hidden behind the trees, a pond, small animals under the park’s protection, an Austrian fort and a little bridge over a forest stream. Each of these places keeps its own voice, and today you will walk through them as through the pages of an invisible book. The questions will be simple, but the answers are hidden not on the internet but here — in stone, bark and water. Look carefully: whoever knows how to listen will hear everything.

What is on the route

The route points in order — what these places are and why they are interesting. Tasks and answers stay inside the quest.

  1. At the Gate — St. Nicholas of Tolentino Church

Prokocim’s first voice is a voice of stone. Today a church of St.

  2. Heart of the Manor — Palace

The stone voice has brought you to the palace. It has survived changing eras and owners: under the last major owner, Erazm Jerzmanowski, greenhouses and rare plants appeared here, and the park became a model farm.

  3. Living Water — Pond

The third voice is a murmuring one. In the 19th century, manor ponds were places for unhurried strolls and meetings: people went boating here and fed the birds.

  4. Guardian of Time — The old tree

The oldest voice in the park is the voice of a tree. A giant rises in the avenue: its trunk is carved with deep cracks, and its spreading crown stands like a green tent.

  5. Little Neighbor — A corner with little houses and plaques deep in the park

The voice of the ancient giant gives way to a soft rustle in the grass. The park looks after not only its trees but also its smallest residents: in this area, shelters and plaques have been set up for a nocturnal little animal that can curl into a tight, prickly ball when it senses danger.

  6. Park Chorus — Birdhouses and swings

In this corner, a birds’ voice joins the voices of the park. Nest boxes and birdhouses hang here, and next to them stand swings where you can sway for a while and let your thoughts go.

  7. Walls of the Old Fort — Prokocim Fort

And here is the voice of stone and history. In the late 19th century, Austrian fortifications ringed Kraków — Fortress Kraków.

  8. Crossing — Bridge over the stream

The last voice is quiet and warm. A little bridge spans the forest stream and joins two paths of the park.
